Weekend Wear

The sun is shining and finally the weather is finally warming up which means less layers, less coats and lighter wraps. The other day while at Zara I grabbed this leather jacket that I had been eyeing for a while. It's perfect for the in-between season weather and can be dressed down or up easily.
I actually bought my other leather jacket from Zara many years ago and have enjoyed it very much and have received many compliments for it so I hope this one turns out to be as good as the old one I have. Fingers crossed!
I'm sharing a lovely recipe tomorrow, stay tuned!

Anine Bing's style

One of the features I love the most on Vogue is the Seven Days, Seven looks (or something like that) they do where they feature a nicely dressed (usually) well know lady who shares her daily looks for seven days, pretty straight forward. does it too and they recently featured Anine Bing. The go-to outfits of this californian based danish designer are just like the pieces of her own fashion line: effortlessly chic, I know it sounds like such a cliché but it is what it is. Neutrals, stripes, good quality pieces that can withstand the pass of time without going out of fashion in a second. Just like every woman needs in her closet.

Recipe: Double Chocolate Truffles

These little chocolate truffles are perfect as a scrumptious companion to your after lunch coffee, you know which one I mean right? Or as a small indulgence mid afternoon when you crave something sweet. Or in the middle of the night when you wake up starving and need something quick. Anyhow, these little chocolate truffles are perfect any time any moment. They are not a light treat or anything like that, I won't pretend but these are the real deal.

Ingredients (makes about 25)

200 ml single cream
200gr dark chocolate
200gr milk chocolate
70 gr chocolate sprinkles

Cut your chocolate in small pieces and melt in the microwave or over bain-marie. Stir so it doesn't stick in the pan. Once well melted add the cream and continue stirring until all is well mixed together.
Place in a bowl and in the fridge for about 2 hours, make sure your mixture doesn't solidify completely, you want to be able to make little balls with your hands.
Take the chocolate mixture off the fridge and make little balls with your hands, roll them though the sprinkles and cover them thoroughly. Save in the fridge and enjoy as you please. Or put some in a little box and gift them with a little bow.

Weekend Wear

Another Monday has arrived lovelies, I hope you had a great first weekend of Spring. Here in Barcelona we didn't really feel it as is but I'm sure we will have a lovely basking sunshine pretty soon, it happens every year!
Anyhow, I for once got my all-white coat out, I love the oversized shape and that it is 50% wool so it's pretty warm still. I wear it with my daily uniform, jeans, sweater and biker boots, a big chunky scarf and a big bag, how predictable have I become ;-)
Yesterday I went to see with my little goddaughter, her sister and their mum, Cinderella and oh my how cute is it! I truly recommend it, it's obviously a fairytale story/movie so expect lots fairy dust, tulle gowns, tinny waists (I know!!), mouses that turn into horses and so on but it is definitely a nice way to spend a couple of hours especially if you have kids around you (or feel like a young princess yourself, I know I do sometimes!)

Ideal Closet

This bright yellow sweater could cheer up pretty much anyone at any moment don't you think? I think bright colours are absolutely fantastic and can make a simple outfit stand up alone at any rate. This rather simple combo of jeans, sweater and trainers is immediately lifted up by the brightness of the sweater and the cute/fun accessories, this Ralph Lauren bucket bag is just on trend and the blue colour makes it a bold choice. Pick your accessories carefully, they can make or break.

Recipe: Baguette french toast with plums

I love french toast, love love love it! I could eat it daily if it wasn't because well you know it wouldn't be a healthy everyday option for breakfast! But once in a while I do like indulging and give myself a treat. This time I made the all time classic version, I have shared a few other recipes (with figs and brie and with nutella) but this one is BY FAR my fave! Simple and scrumptious. I used baguette bread and used prunes and maple syrup and oh my the combination was above anything else. SO delicious!

(for 2)

Half baguette cut in 1 inches slices
3 eggs
1 cup of milk
3 tbsp sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
Confectionary sugar for dusting
Maple syrup

Slice your bread. Mix the eggs, add the milk, sugar, cinnamon. Place your bread and let it soak thoroughly. You can leave it for a few minutes while you put some olive oil on a frying pan and heat it over medium heat.
Place your bread in the hot skillet and cook for few minutes on each side until nicely golden. Serve with any fruit you like, confectionary sugar and maple syrup.

Weekend Wear

I bought this scarf on a whim from Asos a while ago and I have worn it non stop since the weather has been a bit milder. You know what they say about leopard prints (cheetah? not sure!) right? It's a neutral, or something like this! Which basically means that I'm wearing a pretty neutral outfit. I don't wear skirts much these days, but I found this super simple ruched one at the H&M Sale and I knew it could potentially become a staple winter/summer long, perfect colour and the shape is great for all year long.
What are your all-around closet staple? Do you have a piece that you knew since you first bought it that you could wear it comfortably all year-long?

Grey hairs anyone?

In my late twenties I started going grey, too early? Maybe, although it was only a few loose cannon hairs. One here, one there. I never, ever, ever pulled them or chopped them off, I'm a big believer of urban beauty myths, shame on me I know. Now, these couple of "here and there" hairs, remain just that, a few grey hairs, that pop un on the top of my head making me a bit furious every time I see them going wild (because they are wild, especially one that is smack in the middle of where my hair naturally parts!).

I asked the hairdresser, who I seldomly visit I have to be honest, and he suggested going through all my head and finding all the grey hairs and dying them. That's quite a lot of work I thought, all I wanted was a quick solution to hide my protruding hairs... I don't want to dye my whole head, I actually quite like my natural hair colour. I have been blonde, brunette, black, and red  headed but for the last 8 years I have cherished my natural colour and that's how I want to keep it as long as I can, so I'm asking you, what do you ladies think about grey hairs in your early 30's?

Do you think I'm crazy not dying them? I'm definitely not thinking of going all grey like the stunning Sarah Harris (she looks amazing with her Gandalf like mane though!) but let's admit she looks pretty hot!! Kate Middleton and Katie Holmes have repeatedly been vilified for stepping out with a  few grey strands, I say, let them be, let us be! Women are beautiful no matter what!

Recipe: Carrot caramel balls

This recipe doesn't include any kind of caramel whatsoever, but the final texture is caramel like and the whole making is similar to the caramel making so I thought it was an apt name. Forgive me if you came looking for something completely different.
This is a very special little treat, unexpected. These are not raw coconut balls like the many that I have seen on the Internet (and I want to try!), these are cooked so they are very moorish and a bit less healthy. My friend Cristina from Mamis Kidsen made them and I tried replicating them at home with her recipe.

(makes a small batch of about 10-15 small balls)

200 gr carrots (peeled and grated finely)
100 gr white sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup grated coconut

Place in a pan all your ingredients (except coconut) over low heat and cook for about 30 minutes. Make sure you are careful and stir often. You want to obtain a caramel like thick texture that will create threads.
Let it cool thoroughly. I actually put it in the fridge for several hours. Once cold, make little balls with your hands are roll them over the coconut.
Enjoy this little treats anytime! Don't get addicted!

Weekend Wear

Hello lovelies, I'm back and I'm incredibly grateful for your kind words. Some of you have reached out to see how I was doing and I'm blown away by your kindness. While these last 3 months have been difficult around here I'm happy because things are on the mend and I know everything will be ok. I wanted to clarify that time it wasn't a heartbreak, I'm still healing from that, I won't lie but I have realised that there are much more important things in life than being left. I'm definitely worth more than that!

I will try to resume my normal blogging schedule but I hope you will excuse me if I can't keep up! Please know, that you being here, you reading these short line, you encouraging me, you telling me that you are still here, all this fuels me, and I unfortunately words are not enough to pass my gratitude. So I will only say thanks, again, for being here. Let's do this!
