Weekend Wear: the bag edition

This time I thought I showed you something a bit different and I haven't done a What's in my bag post for ages. I also wanted to photograph my new carry all form Michael Kors that I have been eyeing for months and months and only finally got to get at Sarenza. For some time I thought about getting the Louis Vuitton Never Full, I didn't know which one to get, the medium or the large, the damier or the classic and when I finally went to the store I decided neither was the answer, I wanted the Michael Kors shopper in black, classic, sturdy and super roomy and finally here it is! While lately I have been carrying lots of smaller bags this one will be my to go back I know it.

Ideal Closet

How incredible are these Ash booties? Perforates super soft suede and peep toes? Well they definitely have lots going on for themselves but they work no doubt! Super with skinny light denim and a simple white tee. My moto is to always ad a bit of colour to any outfit and this green super sleep clutch adds the perfect final touch to this simple daily outfit. Is this something you would wear? What do you think of the booties?

Recipe: Banana Muffins with Coconut

More muffins! After sharing the nutella and the apple and cinnamon ones today I bring you these as lovely ones with banana and shredded coconut. This ones are made using wholegrain flour which makes them a bit of a healthier version. they are as scrumptious and yummy as any other muffin version and lovely for breakfast, and of course super easy to wipe a quick batch on a boring afternoon!


(makes 6 large muffins)

3/4 cups wholegrain a.p. flour
1/2 cup caster sugar
1tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
1/2 (52gr) stick unsalted butter (melted and cooled)
1 egg
1/8 cup milk + 1 tbs 
1tsp vanilla extract
1/2 mashed ripe banana
1/2 diced ripe banana
1/4 cup diced walnuts
1/4 shredded coconut + extra for topping


Preheat oven to 170ºC (350ªF). Coat your muffin tray with butter and flour, disregarding any excess.
In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add the melted butter and blend with your mixer. Add the egg, milk, vanilla and mashed bananas and mix. Fold the diced banana pieces, walnuts and coconut into the batter (with a wooden spoon give it a turn, you don't want your banana pieces to get all squashed, the idea is to taste them in the muffin).
Spoon the batter into the muffin cups, filling each 3/4 cups. Bake for  25-30 minutes. Allow to cool for 10 minutes and trasnfer to a cooling rack. You can top them with coconut flakes. YUM!

Weekend Wear

I got this bag for my birthday a couple of years ago and I love it as much as I did back then! I only wear it when the weather is good enough (aka now!) because it's made of white canvas and bright spring colours so this is its first outing this year. It works really well with other red/blue/white combos like this outfit of plain dark denim and a classic mariniere. An outfit that is hard to beat! Happy Monday friends, how has your weekend been?

Home away from home in Uruguay

This hotel / casa in Uruguay is the type of house I would like to live in. Worn in but warm and very very comfortable (that's very important to me!), with both shabby and industrial elements (those pendant lamps! and the big vitrine to hold all the porcelain I love) and super modern amenities like the rustic kitchen with the Aga (?) cooker and the sleek bathrooms. 
Casa Zinc is La Barra is technically a Host House and is located near Punta del Este in Urugay. The owner used a mixed element of salvaged furniture which can also be found in his store nearby. There are many common areas, like the dining room, exterior patio and the super kitchen! One of my fave elements? The vintage globes collection!!

Ideal Closet

Finally, FINALLY, the sun is shining properly around here and me, like I bet all of you, can't wait to get rid of the black tights, the boots and the big chunky sweaters (we all love them yes but come on spring hurry up!!) So here is an outfit I would love to wear today, big cork sandals that are both comfy and fun and go with everything from a flirty girly dress and skinny jeans to a pair of cut offs shorts paired with the perfect skinny jeans, and of course an airy animal print shirt, animal print is a neutral right?
 I want to wear this NOW!

Recipe: French Crepes

A couple of weeks ago was Shrove Tuesday and to commemorate my years in the UK, I went ahead and prepared a batch of pancakes batter. Well not exactly, I made a batch of crepes batter. Which basically means just  4 ingredients. I used the same recipe I always use, one I found in a Waitrose recipe card years ago and always loved. Easy? SUPER! Tasty? I had them for lunch the next day too, just as FYI! My mom did all the frying which is the most difficult bit so thank you Mom!!


(makes 8 crepes)

120 gr plain flour
Pinch of Salt
1 medium egg
300 ml milk
olive oil, for frying


In a large bowl sift the flour and add the salt. Make a well in the centre and place the egg and milk. Mix well with your mixer to avoid any lumps. That's pretty much it!
The Waitrose recipe (which you can find here, called for a more elaborate, more manual mixing, I prefer the quickest way to be honest). Cover with cling film and let it rest for half to one hour. 

Heat a heavy bottom pan. Pour some olive oil on some kitchen paper and wipe the pan with it, this way you avoid having too much oil on your pan but have your pan covered well enough and ready for your crepes to cook. Now, pour your batter in a 1/4 cup measure and coat the base of the pan, swirling quickly to form a crepe. Cook each side for 30 seconds and transfer to a warm plate. 
Serve hot with any toppings you want, I like them with Nutella (of course) but there are many options from sugar and lemon, to sugar and Cointreau or salty ones with cheese and bacon just to name a few.

Weekend Wear

Simple outfits are my fave; and black and white is most likely the best colour combination. With a fabulous scarf you have a super outfit, add a pair of grey trainers and you are ready to go! I recently upgraded my Ipad mini cover and I couldn't be happier with this Graphic Image embossed crocodile leather cover. It's a fun colour, super sturdy and wraps my Ipad gorgeously!

DIY Beauty: Anti Cellulite Scrub

Aaaaarg I HATE cellulite! Most women have it and it's definitely annoying, stubborn and hard to get rid of. There are many creams that claim reduce it (I have tried them, no comments), lots of remedies, dry brushing can be tried (I like it) and many wives tales around. I guess this scrub is that but I liked the idea and will give it a go. 

This coffee sugar scrub is super easy to make:
Mix 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup olive oil and 1/2 ground coffee. Store in a air tight jar and apply it regularly in the affected areas. 

Coffee is great as it contains caffeine which draws out excess moisture from your skin making it softer and smoother, it's also a good exfoliant helping remove excess dead cells from your skin. 

Olive oil is fantastic for your skin. It has antioxidants and good fats which help heal your skin, great if you are sunburnt. It helps fight stretch marks by improving the elasticity of the skin. Obviously it's great to help cure dry skin, especially stubborn areas like your knees and elbows!

Best used in the shower of course!

Eat in Barcelona: Balthazar

Barcelona has many lovely places to eat, many different types of restaurants and I would like to show you some when possible. It's not always easy to carry my camera with me and take it out to take pictures, it's rather obtrusive I find but whenever I can I will and I will share it with you here. I know Barcelona is a well loved city and lots of you visit from time to time so a mini guide might be useful.

First of is Balthazar on 189 Rosello St in the heart of the Right Ancient Eixample, just a few blocks off Rambla Catalunya and Diagonal Avenue. You can find it easily (Map) from either Diagonal tube station or Provença Ferrocarrils station. At Balthazar you can enjoy Mediterranean cuisine in a moody but super comfortable ambience, with dark walls and furniture and large windows that allow the mediterranean light to flow in. I love the elegant yet relaxed ambience of the restaurant which allows for either a fun evening dinner with friends, a romantic soiree with your loved one or a business meeting all in the same place. 

My mom and I visited Bathazar last Sunday for lunch and while the big space was almost full capacity we were served on time and gracefully. We order an apple milfeuille with foie as a first starter to share which was sweet and salty, a subtle combination of flavours, then I had a king prawns salad with guacamole and a lovely nutty vinaigrette and mom had a creamy fideua (remember I shared the recipe last summer?). As mains each of us had a steak with frites, simple yet filling and always delicious.

Desert was a delicious typical sugar Crema Catalan (which is like a Creme Brulée technically) and my mom got the Pear Crumble with cream that looked lovely too.
The restaurant also has a very appealing little outdoor area where I imagine you can dine and wine when the weather is better and that will be very very soon here in this lovely blessed city.
