Ideal Closet

 photo 180676fb-b54e-48bf-84fc-2c6a2ea491ae_zpse304eeaf.jpg

A super easy outfit that could work for warmer days too but would also look great with a cardigan and a coat for the winter months, as long as it's not raining of course as those wonderful Chanel ballet flats would suffer if they were caught in the rain! I love a good skinny jean but a more relaxed one like this pair is always heaven sent, especially for those days when we fill we want something a bit less tight and more comfy.

Layer the rugs

This is no new topic, it's one long discussed and featured on blogs and decor publications but it's one I like and as always, anything I like has to make an appearance. I'm talking about layered rugs. It's been a trend (I don't like calling it trend because I think it's an atemporal look) that has been popping up for a while now, for a long long while. The look I like the most is the earthy rug paired with a more etnic one, I'm sure it's your favourite look too and the most common apparently. The addition of textures and colours ads warmth and depth to any room and looks great everywhere, can easily change anything from a living room to a bedroom and make it more lived in which is a look many of us try to achieve effortlessly. Amber of Amber Interiors uses it very very nicely in her own home and in many of her projects, I love it here in a nursery. Beautiful addition of colour while maintaining a neutral vivid palette.

There are LOTS of choices in the market, sisal rugs are great as base layers, nut classic wool carpets also make a great option if that's what you already have at home. A colourful top layer will add colour and if it's a shaggy one also texture. If you prefer more subdued decor, a texture-texture combo is also an option.

Make it: Over the top Hot Chocolate

I made a lemon drizzle cake I wanted to show you today but it was a pure disaster. FOR REAL. So today I'm sharing a super simple recipe, but one that will melt you away. I pined this image a couple of weeks ago from Go Cook Yourself, a fun cooking blog. And I wanted to reproduce it one day, it's sweet, comforting and would make a lovely festive breakfast or afternoon treat for the littlest ones. Plus it's ridiculously easy. My fave!

Printable recipe here

(makes 2)

150 gr chocolate (I used milk chocolate)
450 ml milk
Cookies (oreos in this case)

Heat your milk in a small pan over medium hear. Scrape or cut your chocolate in little chunks (you can cut most of ti and scrape some in curls to decorate later).
Before the milk starts boiling throw in the chocolate and stir until all of it is well melted and the milk takes in the chocolate colour. Once all melted, set aside.
Tip your sprinkles in a bowl and heat your marshmallow over a flame.
Rub the melting marshmallow around the top of your mug (be generous the stickier the better, more sprinkles!). Place your mug top down in the sprinkles and coat it generously.
Pour chiocolate in your mug. Throw in your marshmallows, extra sprinkles and extra chocolate swirls.
Go all crazy and enjoy it with Oreo cookies!

Weekend Wear

I could wear this all week long. I actually have, shame on me, but I love this sweater so much i can't take it out. I got it from the Gap and I predict it will be my saviour this A/W season. I have also been wearing my New Balance quite a bit, they are comfortable and all the rage here in Barcelona, win win I guess. I finally got a pair of Nike Air Max 1, I saw them on a girl on the tube in London a couple of weeks ago and couldn't take my eyes of... her? Yes I guess!

A Botswana Virtual Suitcase

Trips of a lifetime for most people come a few times in life. A honeymoon, an anniversary trip, for some its even something more regular. Botswana was never high on my to-go list but since the people at Sanctuary Retreats invited me to virtual jet with all of you to such exotic destination I couldn't say no. They asked me to pack my #virtualsuitcase (no weight limits!) and see what I would take with me to such a paradise.
I started brainstorming and realised I pretty much had no idea what I would need, I only knew that it's a long plane trip and I would need to be comfortable, hence some pretty basics.

Can you imagine taking in this incredible sunset? I can't think of anything more magical. Sanctuary Retreats offer several Botswana holidays and there is something for everyone. There is the adventurous safari but also the most subdued and romantic option. For me it was easy, I wanted a bit of everything and in an ideal world I would like to see it all, this is why I was tasked to pack for a 7 day trip and enjoy all the Highlights of this incredible country. In this suitcase, money and weight are not an issue, what a dream, check out some of the things I would pack with me in my #virtualsuitcase.

Style Crush

I love simple chic style, elegant, classic but sometimes a bit edgy. And model Jessica hart is today's style crush. I loved the above a bit preppy look but also a classic but I also love how she can be a bit more adventurous in her looks while keeping it stylish.

A super colourful jumper is the prefect piece for this winter, paired with a classic a bit oversized jumper.

Make it: Lentil and Pasta Soup

Here is another great soup for the colder weather, it's another one by Jamie Oliver and while I would recommend a smaller dose of chilly flakes that what the original recipe says it's a pretty good one. Apparently it's an Italian favourite and while it might not be a looker it's a great soup to try, especially for those who don't like the creamy soups.

Printable recipe here

(for 6)

300 grams ditalini pasta (or anything else on the small side like the one I got)
1 onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
2 large tomatoes, chopped
1/2 tsp chilli flakes
Grated Pecorino or Parmesan
For the lentils
300 grams lentils
1 small onion, halved
2 bay leaves
olive oil
Salt, pepper

Cook the lentils in salted boiling water together with the halved onion, bay leaves and a splash of olive oil. They need to be cooked until soft, for about 25 minutes.
Once cooked, drain and discard their water and leaves.
Drizzle the pan with olive oil and saute the onion and garlic over medium heat until soft. Add the tomatoes and chilli flakes, add the drained lentils plus 1 litre of water and simmer gently for 10 minutes.
While the lentils are simmering, cook the pasta in a pot with salted water for 8-9 minutes until cooked al dente.
Drain and add to the lentils mix, simmer for 2-3 minutes. Take out of the heat and let it seat for 4-5 minutes. Serve with grated parmesan.

Weekend Wear

Happy Monday friends! I recently received this beautiful Joules long sleeved top from Surfdome and I think it will become a staple in my Autumn wardrobe. I love a good breton top like most of us and this one is perfect, blue and pink are a great colour combo and this one has two little pockets!

I paired it with my Zara skinnies (most perfect pair I found this season!) and my trusted and always useful little LV pochette. I normally use it as a pochette inside my bag, it was my mom's gift when I turned 18 and love it dearly.

Polyvore does Home

Girly kitchen

A pink kitchen with lots of pastels, very ladylike, and some grunge elements like the Shelving unit.

When I started blogging years ago I used Polyvore a bit, but then I stopped for a very long long time until recently I was told that they had launched their Home section.
If you follow me on Pinterest or Facebook you have probably seen my Polyvore Home sets popping up from time to time lately. I have found that curating collections, gathering objects and creating my dream sets relaxes me and allows my creative juices to flow, and I love it! I have also a little surprise prep for all you in the very near future, one I think you will really like so stay tuned!

I would love a bedroom like this, modern but very glamorous, a bit moody with the black elements in the chest, light fixture and window but also a bit girly with the pink pops and Birdy wallpaper. Perfect for the single lady who wants to feel she sleeps in a chic boudoir.

glam bedroom

A modern living room, where the large art is the main focus. I love girly chic rooms lately. Very comfortable, lived in, spaces that feel lived in but still have and air of sophistication and glam.
Grey sofa - Living room

If you want to see more on Polyvore, I'm here, let me know who you are there so I can check out!

Make it: Brie and figs french toast

So last week I went all crazy and bought a bunch of figs. There are a couple of fruit street vendors on my way to work and while I had never ever liked figs I decided to try them. I tried one and liked it, I tried the second and loved it. So off I went to find a recipe with figs. I didn't want to make a cake or a salad so when I found this French toast version I knew I had hit it! It's incredibly yummy, super filling and the combination of the fig, cinnamon, and the brie is to die for!

Printable recipe here

(makes 2 sandwiches)

For the figs mix
2 Tablespoons of Butter
4 Tablespoons of Honey
5 Figs, peeled and cut in 4

For the toast
2 Eggs
1/2 Cup of Milk
1 Tablespoon of Cinnamon
4 Slices of bread (your own choice)
Bree Cheese , slices into 4-5 pieces
Butter to cook

For the fig mixture

In a small pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the honey and figs and stir while cooking over medium-low heat for about 5-6 minutes.

Remove from heat and set aside while you prepare the french toast.

For the French Toast

In a large bowl whisk the milk, eggs and cinnamon. Dip and soak the bread for 1 minute on each side.

In a pan over medium heat, melt butter a place the bread. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

Remove from heat and place on a plate, place the slices of the Brie to cover all your bread and place a good quantity of the fig mixture on top. Cover with the other slice to make a sandwich. For the cheese to melt nicely put it on the pan for 1 minute over medium heat and let it melt.

Take it out and place on a plate, serve with more fig mixture on top. You can sprinkle some sugar on top if you like it a bit sweeter.

Weekend Wear

I'm sure you can now feel a trend, the bootie trend. I can't stop wearing them, especially these Ash ones. They have the most perfect heel ever and have never ever hut my feet (the Petty Sam Edelman I showed you last week are GORGEOUS but literally killed my little toes - massive blisters!). Anyhow, I loved pairing my ripped boyfriend jeans with a pink casual sweater and a statement necklace, the boots and the bag make of this outfit a bit of a less casual weekend wear and definitely something I could easily wear all week round.

Ideal Closet

a diary of lovely ideal closet

A look where the accessories play the main role. Bold shoes and a bold scarf in contrasting colours but that to me really go well together. I live in jeans and sweaters so this look is very me, I would love to wear heels too but as I've said before my walk to work doesn't allow it and my work environment either, I could of course wear them but I feel it would be a bit silly. Each office has its own sort of dress code and mine is not one for high fancy heels. What is your work "uniform"? Do you wear heels at work?

Vasilia: Natural Beauty

Most of you probably love my love for Greece and in these hard times I like to share anything Made in Greece I can. Topped this with my new found love for natural beauty and anything "free of" and I'm excited to share with you Vasilia. Vasilia is a beauty website dedicated to natural beauty products. I was kindly sent some products from Greek brand Mythos to try and today I wanted to show them to you. I have only tried them for a couple fo days so I'm planning on making a proper review in a couple of weeks time so today it's more about Vasilia, and what the Mythos brand offers.

Vasilia offers a carefully selected selection of both Greek and non Greek beauty brands that share the same philosophy of natural beauty and organic products. I know many have been into natural and free of chemicals products for a long time but not me and I'm toying with the idea now. While I won't quit my beloved face cream I will try to introduce as many natural products as I can and Vasilia helps immensely as all the ground work has been done. One of Vasilia's aims is for everyone to become familiar with the Mediterranean and the products this beautiful land has to offer. Free Worlwide is offered on all orders which to me is one of the BEST service an e-commerce has to offer.

All opinions my own. A proper review of the Mythos products will follow.
