Erica from Studio Eriksdotter is an incredible talented artist. I love love every single one of her painting. When she contacted me I was really excited because I had been loving her creations for a while. I'm really excited to be hosting this giveaway and sharing with all of you a bit more about Erica and her work.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your work. How did it all start?
I was born and raised in Sweden and started painting very early. I remember getting my first easel at the age of seven or finishing water color pieces while on the phone with my girlfriends in my teens. I don’t really know how it started, it’s just has always been a big part of my life.
At 20, I moved to the U.S. to continue my studies and continued to paint. As I continued to evolve as an artist and trough today, I work predominantly in acrylics but do detailed watercolors for a client in interior design.
Who or what inspires you?
My grandfather was one of those people blessed with both a very intellectual side and a very creative side. He was brilliant and I was very inspired by his talent growing up. He taught me a few advice and tips here and there and it is very much thanks to him I sold my first painting at the age of 10. Just having a role model to look up to is almost enough some times. I just wish he could have passed on his math skills as well!
Nature is a huge inspiration for me! English or cottage style gardens, birds sing and being one with nature is a must for me. Same with traveling – I’m never satisfied. Other things that inspire me to be creative is beautiful architecture, museums, interior design, fashion, beautiful written words and stories, history and of course, other artists, like Georgia O’Keeffe and my husband’s photography.
What are your aspirations? Where do you see yourself in 3 years?
I hope to continue to inspire and make people and homes happy with my art. I’d love to paint to the views of the Eiffel tower or the lavender fields in France, the Amalfi coast in Italy, and the rolling hills of England and Ireland. As a child, I always brought my watercolors with me when we traveled in Europe and I'd love to return to paint for clients or for a show. Selling lots of art and have my own gallery show would be a dream come true and I love dreaming big.
