Very Fab Giveaway

Today I'm really really happy because I have a really sweet giveaway for one of my beloved followers. 

I don't say it often but I really really wanted to thank you all, you really brighten my day. 

Lindsay from super super cute Spotted Lobes has offered one of you a beautiful of her handmade creations.

You all know my love for headbands, so when I saw these I resist myself. 

These are some of my faves creations from Spotted Lobes.

Lindsay was very kind to answer some answers about her work and some advice for Etsy entrepreneurs. 

My name is Lindsay Quinn and I am from Minneapolis, MN. I live with my boyfriend and two really cute pups named Ralph and Rose. I began making fabric flowers in November of 2009 after I cut apart an old shirt to see what I could come up with. The first few items were quite interesting, but after a while I got the hang of making my tightly rolled fabric flowers

I started to give my items to friends and family, and received a lot of great feedback. I thought long and hard about what I wanted to call my shop/business. I came up with “spottedlobes”. Most people don’t know what it means… I have had guesses that it has something to do with spotted earlobes (earrings), or spotted lobes of a flower. Actually, my lobes are spotted! I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2008 and MS causes lesions (spots) on my brain (lobes). I donate 10% of my profits to the MS society, so I thought the name would be fitting and unique. 

Color inspires me. I could see a great shirt on someone, a piece of art, or even a wall color and I will be off to the fabric store to find new fabric. 

Custom orders also inspire me. I love creating items for a bridal party or for someone that has a great idea. It is exciting to make items that include inspiration from the person that will be wearing it! 

How I get inspired to work is another story. Sometimes I think of a new color combination that I am excited to see together, or a custom order needs to be done asap. Other times, I just crave it. It is nice to sit down for a few hours and create a bunch of fabric flowers that I can use in future pieces.

My aspirations are pretty simple. In three years I would like to be happy, healthy and continue to create things that I enjoy.

There are so many pieces of advice I have read about during my first few months as a shop owner… Take good photos, update regularly, stay connected with other shop owners, advertise, and use good tag words… Yes, all of these things are important. Although, I think that if you make high quality items that you love and enjoy making, your shop can be successful! Don’t give up!
