My humble Best Oscar dresses list ever

Yes that time of the year is here again, Oscar time and big dresses time. While perusing my Facebook feed I came across one of the very many Best Oscar dresses lists there are around the net and I thought to myself "what dresses did I love". I remember some big ones so here is my own list.
I don't have any clear favorite, all are equally stunning not only as dresses but also as dresses worn my each of the women they were worn. I think a dress my not be gorgeous per se but look incredible on someone specifically which for me is also a good enough reason to make it to my list. The Elis Saab worn by Mila Kunis in 2011 is BREATHTAKING, like anything the lebanese genius does!

Moving on, from oldest to latest, my very own list!

Audrey Hepburn couldn't be absent in her Precious Givenchy in 1954

Elizabeth Taylor looking incredibly hot like the real woman she always was. She wore her custom made baby blue dress by custom designer Edith Head in 1970 and I'm sure she turned many many heads. I think her hair and jewellery compliment it beautifully.

This pink dress marked my adolescence, I remember it so vividly, a pink taffeta Ralph Lauren worn by Gwyneth Paltrow in 1999. I think we all wanted our own pink dress back then, come on admit it.

Another one I remember very well is this vintage Valentino Julia Roberts wore in 2001 to pick up her Oscar for her role as Erin Brockovich (I loved that film!). A real vintage piece!

This one is one of those cases I was talking about, not the most lovely dresses (I mean it is gorgeous don't take me wrong!) but I think Charlize Theron looked AMAZING in this Gucci in 2004!

In 2006 I had two faves, two ladies I really love their style, back then and now too: Reese Whiterspoon in a real gem, a vintage Christian Dior (Walk the Line is one of my all time fave movies btw!) and the oh so stylish Michelle Williams in her subtle mustard Vera Wang. Red lips and mustard dress is a good choice people!

Penelope Cruz rocked this big Versace dress in 2007. A big one indeed but how appropriate for such an event! I love seeing big gowns, I think in part this is what dressing for such an event is all about, go big or go home!

She made the cape look cool again, Gwynie (twice in my list!) looking amazing in her Tom Ford in 2012.

And finally, to me (and many of you too I'm sure) the girl who can do no wrong, Jennifer Lawrence at her very best in Dior last year. She is the one I'm looking forward to seeing this weekend.

Happy Oscar viewing lovelies, let's come back on Monday and chat about who the best dressed was!

Ideal Closet

This necklace is a beauty, pure candy pleasure! Plus it was cheap like chips (sorry lovelies I just realised it has now sold out, bummer! I have put some alternatives below!) But anyway I dream of a candy like necklace like this one, it can brighten any simple outfit! Not saying that this one is a simple outfit, especially with these Valentino babies but you get what I'm saying: relaxed jeans, cashmere/knit hoodie, flat shoes! PS: i think this is THE Perfect jean: skinny/relax, both better version than the skinny and the boyfriend. I want!

Handbags Wish List, oh my!

The guys at Harrods asked me to put together my handbag wish list so off I went and checked out all the handbag designs on Harrods.com! I dream of many bags, not on a daily basis but often. I dream of the PS1, usually in black or a neutral shade (even though in my wish list today I picked the blue version, but this blue one is gorge don't you think?), while it's not 100% my style this winter I have been looking closely (that's pretty much all I can do, look!) at the Givenchy crossover beauty, I love it's boxy shape and it's oddity.
What bags would you include imn your dream wish list and which one would make it to your closet if money wasn't an issue?

Make it: Apple Muffins

I think I have found my comfort food. I'm definitely a sweet person, I have been asked if in a restaurant I had to chose between the entrants and the deserts which one would I go for, for me that's a super easy, always deserts! And while these apple muffins are not strictly a desert they make for a yummy mid day treat (yes not diet friendly!) or a full of flavour breakfast option then this is it for you! They look very much like the nutella cinnamon muffin ones I made some time ago but I think I prefer these ones, I love the apple/cinnamon combo! The original recipe called for a sugar/cinnamon coating but I omitted it and they were as good!

Ingredients

(makes 6 or 5 in a large muffin pan)

1 cup all purpose flour (+1 tbsp for coating the apples)
1 apple cut in pieces (not too big not small, you want to taste them)
3/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 stick unsalted butter at room temperature
1/2 cup granulates sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup milk

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375º F (190º C). Prepare your muffin tin, I coated it with butter and flour disregarding any excess.
In a bowl sift flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Mix well and set aside.
In a bowl toss together the apples with the flour (and 1 tsp of cinnamon if you want, I forgot!) and coat them well, set aside.
Cream butter and sugar until soft  for about 3 minutes. Add egg and beat well until well incorporated and mixed, add vanilla and mix.
Gently fold the flour mixture, alternating it with the mil. Stir until combined.
Fill your muffin tins until 3/4 full. Bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
Let them cool for a bit before you take them out from the tin.
If you want to coat them, definitely a must but they are as good without check the original recipe here.

Ideal Closet

I wanted to show you this super cute clutch today. It's made by a friend's of one of my cousins in Greece. She showed me some time ago but just the other day I got around to really appreciating the real beauty of it. The brand name is Thalatta which technically means Sea, very mediterranean. This little beauty is handmade in Greece with 100% black leather napa, I can imagine it super buttery soft. It comes with a brass kiss pull which makes it even more desirable! Beautiful with a pair of killer cage heels and a simple outfit for a night of easy going drinks out.

This beauty comes in 3 gorgeous colours, one of each for me please!

Trasierra: a Heaven in Sevilla

Many times a day I find myself day dreaming of either exotic, relaxing, adventurous holidays. Long ones, short breaks, sandy beaches, new cit discoveries. In one of my day dream adventures I found myself in Seville, in a large house/hotel that the Scotts family restored carefully with love. Since 1992 the matriarch of the family, Charlotte, has been running this wonderful little heaven called Trasierra near Sevilla where people can enjoy different activities in a charming environment. I went crazy for the delicious and romantic rooms. Who wouldn't?

And the exterior is obviously AS GORGEOUS!

Make it: Coconut Pancakes

Wow this was my first time making pancakes (I know, right?!). A massive thanks to my mum who actually did the hard works (cooking them, aka turning them at the right moment!). I loved them! I had pancakes before, I loved the ones in London at The Breakfast Club and I occasionally in the past I used to make crepes, which pretty much is a similar notion but pancakes never.

The idea behind this was born a couple of nights ago when I was going through Lauren's Instagram. She was in Hawai for the wedding of the most gorgeous lady ever, Amber (congrats lovely!!) and she shared a plate of macadamia (yum!) pancakes. I did a bit of digging and found several recipes of banana/macadamia/coconut pancakes and finally I adapted this recipe for my Sunday breakfast.

Ingredients

3/4 a.p.flour
1/2 tbsp baking powder
2 tbsp sugar
1/4 cup shredded coconut

1 cup milk
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla

1 banana
Maple syrup
Butter

Instructions

In a large bowl, mix your dry ingredients. (I used cake flour which is why my pancakes turned up a bit thicker than I initially wanted but they were as good, but if you want thiner ones I would go for normal all purpose flour).
Whisk together all the wet ingredients and add them to the dry mixture.
When all is well mixed (the batter should be lumpy) add the coconut.
Heat the pan and coat it with butter over medium-high.
Pour batter 1/4 cup at a time and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, taking care when turning the pancakes.
Serve warm with banana slices, which you can caramelise, coconut and maple syrup.

Weekend Wear

The frayed jeans and cool sweater/top is my go-to outfit, you have probably noticed as most of my Weekend Wear posts are pretty much the same type of outfits in different combos!
I love accessorising with bold little details, like this vintage necklace or the gold watch. The top is from Yerse, a catalan brand that has really nice things, beautifully made tops that are both super feminine and comfortable at the same time, skinny jeans with cool flowy top, I'm sure many of you know what I'm talking about, right?
I have a super yummy recipe coming up tomorrow, I hope you come by to check it out!
