A Swedish shed


Can you imagine having this beautiful little shed in your terrace, surrounded by gorgeous lush greenery and lovely city views? I can! The idea of seeping tea perched in this tiny oasis is pure bliss. This Swedish townhouse in Malmo has been built with spacious units in mind, large living room areas and comfortable spaces. There's covered garden outside the sliding kitchen doors, now, who doesn't dream of cooking in such a perfect kitchen?

Make it: Chocolate Croissants


Rosie, AKA The Londoner, made some croissants the other day and I, of course, got jealous. These are a bit of a different version (but AS DEAD EASY!) as in Barcelona I didn't manage to find the specific croissant ready pastry that Rosie used so I did some research and found an alternative way to wipe up the perfect quick and easy "home made croissants". I used this video by Laura Vitale and was really useful especially when it came to deciding what pastry to use. I changed the recipe a bit so here goes. 

Ingredients

(makes 4)

Half packet of puff pastry 
Nutella
Chopped Hazelnuts (or any other nut you like)


Instructions

Preheat oven to 200C. 

Lay the puff pastry on a lightly floured pastry and oven with a pin roll slightly, you just need an extra inch or so on each side, not more. Cut in half and save the 1 half for your next batch (or make it and have 8 croissants!). Cut your other half in half (again! so you have 2 squares!) and cut each square on a diagonal so you have 4 triangles. Stretch out each triangle so the point is centred. 

Place about 1 Tbsp of Nutella on the biggest end and sprinkle with your nuts (or not if you prefer it nut free). Roll and create a little croissant. 

Place each croissant on a parchment paper line baking tray and bake for about 10 minutes or until gold. 
Eat warm, Rosie recommends eating them with berries, in all honesty I just devoured them no berries, no nothing, they are THAT GOOD!

Weekend Wear


This Zara dress is going to be my staple for the rest of the winter season and will definitely be worn a lot during spring. It has the perfect shape, comfortable yet not your typical everyday simple dress. I love wearing it with flat boots, wither knee high, or biker boots but I think it would also work well with black ballet flats or even high heels for an evening or office look.

Ideal Closet


I LOVE parkas, pretty ones, and puffy jackets, again the pretty type. When it's cold I want to be stylish and comfortable, I'm not the type of girl who will sacrifice my well being for the sake of beauty and I think that a parka can be as chic as anything else. Ok, maybe not AS chic as but close enough if well worn and accessorised. This is, once again, my go to outfit, jeans, sweater and cool trainers. Yes, same old, same old, but oh so good and nicely in trend this winter. 

PS: How cool are these pink-laced Nike? Bright and happy!!

Get the Smoky Eye look


A couple of weeks ago my aunt gave me a Zimberland eye-makeup kit, with a tutorial to create the smoky eye look. I tend to only wear some kohl and mascara and never (ever) shadow so I'm not great and doing it, which you can probably tell by the pictures, but nonetheless I gave it a go and the instructions are super clear so I think it didn't come up that bad. 

The Zimberland kit contains all needed to create this look (minus the mascara but on the plus side it contains a lip gloss). The brand is Catalan and in part of Keenwell a brand initially only available to professionals. I love the quality and the step by step tutorial, while its easy to find tutorials only, having all the products in one place does help a lot!


and here is the look on me. Right, so I'm no big fan of putting such close ups of myself on the blog, or anywhere else for that matter, but please bear with me as for this specific post it was a need.

Make it: Greek Spanakopita


This is one of the most traditional Greek recipes. Made and loved by many not only in Greece but around the world. What is it? It's a spanakopita, a spinach filled pie type of dish made with fyllo pastry. It's a bit messy to make, not one of my easiest or quickest recipes but if you enjoy spinach you should give it a go because it is always a winner. 


Ingredients

(for 6)

1 kg fresh spinach
6 (small) spring onions
250 gr feta cheese 
handful of pine nuts
Salt, pepper to taste
1 packet of filo pastry (you will find it in most supermarkets (you need about 6 layers)
Olive oil


Instructions

Preheat oven to 180C. 
First step here is to prepare your spinach mix. If your spinach isn't all ready and washed, make you you wash it thoroughly and dry it. 

Place in a large bowl and chop it thinly, I find that the easier is to do it with a pair of cooking scissors. It needs to be cut into tiny little pieces, you don't want big leaves of spinach in your pie when you eat it.
Prepare your pine nuts, in a pan over medium heat cook them for 2-3 minutes in olive oil. Remove from heat and add them to the spinach. Crumble the feta cheese and add it too. 

Slice the white bit of your spring onions and add it too. Add salt and pepper to taste. Mix all well so everything is well combined. 

Prepare your oven proof dish and oil it slightly. Open your filo pastry on a clean surface. Lay 3 sheets of filo in your dish/pan. Between each sheet purr some olive oil, fold in the filo sheets on top of the mixture.  Place the other three sheets of the filo on top covering the mixture. You can either crumble the filo that is outside the pan or cut it and tuck the little that remains inside the pie. 

Place in the oven and bake until cooked through for about 1 hour.

My go to outfit, again! Jeans, sweater, trainers and classic accessories. I have worn this combo in various versions and colours, with both my Nike and New Balance and when the weather allows I like to wear these Converse. They are definitely not white as I have worn them a lot for many years but I love the worn in look and never really liked them when they were sparkling new! What are your favourite trainers? Fun Paint Party


This is such a fun project for the kiddos. 
I have been so out of the blogosphere and anything fun these last 12 months (back in business though, be happy is my motto!) that I had not read any of the online magazines in months. So when I came across a fun bathroom on Rue Magazine I looked a bit further and discovered that floral heaven was the home of Tiffany Pratt. I looked a bit more and found this super fun kid's paint party, oh my, that's something I could even love (and let me tell you my OCD doesn't allow me to get dirty! ha!). I have always toyed with the idea of the Colour Race, this is a better version of it, all the colour fun without having to run? FUN TIMES! and look at the little ones, they couldn't be happier. If like me, you didn't know who Tiffany Pratt is and does I urge to check her blog out to be immersed in a world of beauty and creativity!

Plum Pretty Sugar for BHLDN


Over the weekend I received an email from BHLDN via a Paperless Post invite, I' sure you got it too if you subscribe to their newsletter. They were introducing the exclusive new collection that Plum Pretty Sugar made for them, you know how much I love them right? I have blogged several times about them, here and here for example. Their utterly gorgeous robes have been worn by countless excited brides and bridesmaids and I also thought they looked gorgeous. Perfect colours, subtle yet happy and lovely fabrics make of these pieces the perfect companions. I love the new BHLDN pattern, the lilac is soft and pretty and anyone, bride or not would feel special in it.

A winter suitcase



Fourteen pieces that should allow you to pack a small winter suitcase. I have packed a few carry on suitcases for winter trips this season and I think I have "almost" mastered the art of light packing, trust me it has taken me years! I was one of those girls who used to travel with large large suitcase and pack everything I could think of, 10 tees type of thing indeed!
But no more, packing light with a carry on is the way to travel, no waiting for that suitcase, no fear that it might actually not arrive, hop on, hop off!
I picked basics that can be mixed and matched and layered, 2 pairs of jeans, 1 dress and 1 skirt. These can then be combined and create several different outfits to make you look stylish and comfortable in any urban city for a week. A big practical bag is a must, especially if you want to carry extra stuff that doesn't fit in your carry on, I'm sure you know what I mean (wink).

Make it: Apple Crumble


About a lifetime ago I went to my friend's Marika for dinner and for desert she made an apple crumble she had just taken out of the oven. Oh I can remember how yummy it was, I really liked it and unfortunately was too ashamed to ask for seconds. Fast forward 6-7 months and I finally got to ask her for the recipe. Months ago I finally made this and I never got around to showing you, the photos were taken without much light and it doesn't really show how yummy this is. BUT, delicious is all I can say.

Ingredients

1 kilo of apples (I picked bramleys as they are apparently the best for baking)
1tbsp cinnamon
75 gr sugar
1 lemon

For the crumble
150 gr flour
105 gr sugar
105 gr butter (cold)
1tbsp vanilla extract

Apple Crumble recipe

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 180C. Peel and core the apple, cut in small pieces. 
Put the apples in a large pan, together with the cinnamon, sugar, lemon juice and 1tsbn of water. 
Cook until the apples turn soft over medium heat. 

For the crumble cut the cold butter into small cubes, place on a bowl and add the flour. Mix with your fingertips until it gains a crumb texture ( I used the food processor and pulsed a bit more than needed, I would avoid doing it this way next time as the crumble was tasty but did not have have the texture I was looking for). Add the sugar to the mix and keep mixing it well. 

Place the apples in a shallow oven proof dish and sprinkle the crumble on top of it. Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until the crumble becomes all gold and the sauce is bubbling away.

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
