Wedding Wednesday: Bombonieres

In Greece (yes another Greece related post, we are off on Friday and cant take it out of my mind) it is tradition to gift wedding guest what is called a "bomboniera" to thank them for sharing this special day. Each bomboniera is a little puch made of tulle usually with 5 or 7 (always odd numbers, so they can't be divided like marriage) sugar coated almonds. Each almond represents Health, Wealth, Happiness, Prosperity and Long Life. Nowadays there are many different types of bombonieres, but when it comes to sugar coated almonds the traditional has to be my fave. PS: they are sugared coated as a representation of the sweetness the couple has to show for each other, I absolutely LOVE all the symbology.

  7. Each part of a wedding got deep meaning.
It's a pity so often we forget about it.
