Wedding Wednesday: antique rings

I'm a sucker for antique rings, I used to dream of a solitaire but now I'm off the idea, I love little diamond bands but I also love looking at antique beauties. Berganza in London's Hatton Garden has some real show stoppers. I'm usually drawn to a big colored stone in the middle and tiny diamonds all around, I know there is a name for this kind of setting but obviously my lack of knowledge is evident!

My fave is this 1920's sapphire Tiffany little number (well maybe not THAT little!). It's surrounded by diamonds and more sapphires in platinum and I can only fantasise of the amazing history this ring has. Swoon.

  2. I'll take one of each, please!
Seriously, the solitaire with the ruby surround. After all, that's my birthstone!

  8. The term you are referring to is pave setting and yes it is GORGEOUS! I also am really drawn to the idea of a colored stone as opposed to a diamond (not that there is anything wrong with that either!). I feel the colored stone along with the history add a little personality and intrigue to your ring!

  19. Antique rings certainly have a sense of uniqueness to them. You’d be lucky to own one today because it’s really hard to find an antique ring that’s in good condition nowadays. Anyway, I like the look of your favorite ring, but I would rather be seen wearing that ring studded with diamonds on top. If you want to be noticed, why not go all out, right?
