The timing is marvelous this time, and I promise you it wasn't planned. Today's guest is non other than the fabulous Alaina from Live Creating Yourself and yes yes Rue. I'm not going to say much, because we all know she is... well AWESOME. Her home is my constant inspiration, her art hangs in my bedroom and her sweetness is immeasurable.
Inspirations
Favorite Discovery: the Adobe Creative Suites – I can get lost working in them for hours, not to mention my livelihood is based on their existance.
Favorite Place in the World: Covent Garden in London
Style Icons: Kate Middleton and Jen Anniston – I wear skinny jeans, leather riding boots, and a fitted blazer every day of the week come October 1
Favorite Designer: Oscar de La Renta and Ralph Lauren for fashion, Brad Ford for interiors
Favorite Movie: You’ve Got Mail, Pride and Prejudice, The Family Stone
Clothes
Jeans: Abercrombie’s Erin Skinny – love the look and the price
Underwear: Chantelle – a recent discovery of mine, I’m now completely obsessed with this bra. Go figure the most confortable, sexy bra I ever put on would be French.
Watch: Currently wishing this Timex was on my wrist.
Day dress and day bag: A cotton shift from J.Crew and my leather Burberry that I half bought/half got as a birthday gift when I was 21, and I love it more and more every year. It’s ventured with me across Europe and the States.
Evening Dress: As with my entire wardrobe, 99% of the time I rely on J.Crew – I’m anxious to get this emerald dress for the holiday season.
Shoes: What I lack in designer clothes I make up for in shoes. Louboutin, Prada, Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch, Burberry – I LOVE fancy shoes. My favorite shoe purchase was an $1100 pair of Ralph Lauren leather boots on sale for $250. That’s cheaper than most leather boots. Loves it.
Home
Inspiration: Blogs. Pretty much everything I’ve done in my home has been inspired by something I first saw on a blog. Grey walls, black walls, DIY furniture makeovers, vertical spine bookshelves, Ikea’s tulip table… everything.
Favorite Art: my LCYgraphics prints, of course! They represent what I truly love – simplicity, travel, and DIY.
Bedding: West Elm organic bedding
Stationery: My monogrammed stationary by Rytex
Coffee table books: My French Life, Domino Book of Decorating, and A Photographer’s Life
Flowers: blue hydrangeas
Beauty
Perfume: Burberry Brit – but perfumes make me sneeze so I hardly wear it.
Moisturizer: Cetaphil for face, Laura Mercier Almond Coconut Milk body creme for body
Mascara: I don’t wear mascara but I wear by CARGO black eyeliner.
Shampoo: Fekkai Glossing Shampoo – like magic for your hair
